Student Hosting 2010

Two days ago I got a call from my former professor at UNLV. When I was in his web and object oriented programming courses I had an idea to provide access to a real hosting environment for other students. This will also provide me with some users to test how to manage multiple clients.

The funny thing is that Ranel, my professor, had crossed my mind maybe a few weeks ago. I was thinking that I should contact him to see how his projects are going and if I could play a role in helping out the class.

So the answer is yes. I have launched another hosting platform for this very reason. So, please fill out the form here http://twistedpairwd.com/free-hosting-students if you are interested. I will email you your access information over the weekend and get you all set up for hosting your school projects. The system is not automated so I will be in contact if i need anything else from you.

Thank you and enjoy.

Peterlik.com Launched

Our latest project has launched: http://peterlik.com

Check it out!

Captcha in the Rye

Bring on the spam! Let it rain down on the newly spam protected Twisted Pair WD dot com... I have been noticing an increasing number of fake accounts being created on this site... So I decided to check out mollom.com's services.

I am not new to spam protection technologies and have been very pleased with other captcha and math based solutions through Drupal modules. I just thought I would check out Dries's approach, I'm a big fan of Acquia and such... so we will see how it goes.

Cheers,

Client Server Migration

So things have been rather busy since deciding to migrate all of our clients to a new hosting platform. I am happy to announce that the migration is finally complete. That is, it is finished for the paying customers. As for the IS students at UNLV, I will be contacting you about the process that you will need to follow to migrate your free hosting account to the new host as well. I feel kinda bad about not being able to move all of you myself, but then again, it is a free service and this will give you great experience of how to move your website to a new server, databases and all. It will be fun, and of coarse i will be here for support if you need help.

Thanks for all of your patience during the migration and I hope you enjoy the upgraded server.
